4LoveOfPaws didn’t start as a business plan. It started on our living room rug with four German Shepherds who meant everything to us.
Anyone who has shared their life with a German Shepherd knows how incredible they are—loyal, strong, and always ready to run. But many owners also know the quiet heartbreak that often comes with the breed: genetic hip dysplasia. We had to sit by and watch all four of our dogs slow down. Dogs who used to leap into the back of the car suddenly struggled just to stand up after a nap or walk across a slick hardwood floor.
When a dog you love starts losing their mobility, your whole routine changes. Simple things like a quick trip to the backyard turn into slow, stressful challenges. We didn't learn about canine joint problems from a brochure or a market research report. We lived through every single hard day right alongside our dogs.
From Walking Assistance to Mobility Support
Living through that with four heavy dogs taught us things you only learn by doing. We quickly realized how tough it is on your own body to lift a 90-pound dog off the floor when their back legs give out. We also saw the look in our dogs' eyes when they wanted to go outside but physically couldn't manage the steps.
We tried almost every sling and harness we could buy. Most were disappointing. They slipped around, rubbed our dogs' skin raw, or were just too complicated to put on when you needed them in a hurry.
